Summary

Amends the

Migration Act 1958
to introduce a class of complementary protection visas which will provide protection for those people who do not meet the definition of a refugee under the Refugee Convention but who have compelling humanitarian or safety reasons to not return to their country of origin.

We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and acknowledge their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the elders past, present and emerging.
